Prince revealed Tuesday evening that he joined Twitter, treading into cyber space with the message "PRINCE'S 1ST TWEET... TESTING 1, 2..." as the mark of his first tweet on his band 3rd Eye Girl's account (which has been active since January.

The rock star in the past has been vocal about his distrust of the Internet, going as far as to ban YouTube and iTunes from using his music. However, he seems to have finally come around to embracing the Web. The musician went from asking if he added too much pepper in his salad to putting up a YouTube preview of a new single titled Groovy Potential. (Watch below.)

He also uploaded onto the social media website his first selfie.

DJ Questlove confirmed that the tweets were indeed penned by Prince himself. Twitter music-marketer, Tatiana Grace, followed suit.

Prince uploaded a new live video titled Let's Go Crazy Reloaded but it has now been removed, according to Pitchfork. His most recent tweet directs us to a photo portrait of him in V magazine, asking us if it is "true of false?" Ironically enough, in the same interview with V magazine, Prince seemed vehement about his disdain for new-age technology, when asked if he had an iPhone, he responded, "Hell no."

In the story, the author Vanessa Grigoriadis also emphasizes upon Prince's disconnect from new-age media.

"You could argue that Prince was an early adopter of phone-text-speak ('I Would Die 4 U' and all that), but he's eschewed the PR opportunities afforded by the latest tech almost completely, refusing to put his videos on YouTube and offering new music mostly for sale on his websites. And in part by making himself so unavailable, he's remained as mysterious as ever."

Prince is currently touring with his four-piece Minneapolis band, 3rd Eye Girl.
