Since yesterday's vague and unexpected split announcement of longtime couple Robin Thicke and Paula Patton, many have wondered if the final straw had to do with Thicke's latest alleged infidelities.

Paula Patton and Robin Thicke Announce Split

In a statement released exclusively to People yesterday afternoon, reps of the once happy couple announced that Paula Patton and Robin Thicke are separating after 8 years of marriage and over 20 years of dating. The short statement, "We will always love each other and be best friends; however, we have mutually decided to separate at this time," quickly became the main topic of news programs and social media. The two seemed happier than ever at their Grammy appearance just last month, and even took their son Julian Fuego Thicke to Disneyland this past weekend.

Stunned fans reacted on twitter, saying:

Though they outlasted many celebrity couples, the last year had been a publicly trying one for the actress and singer as Patton stood by her husband during various newsworthy scandals, mostly involving his risky behavior with other women.

The Miley Cyrus performance at the 2013 VMA's brought on a firestorm of controversy, and with Thicke often pictured groping fans and being a bit too friendly, some were not surprised by the split. His behavior went so far at one point, that Thicke was pictured in an alleged lip lock with a woman in Paris.

However, Patton remained supportive when asked about his discretions, responding, "Why are people making such a big deal about it?" in a sit down with E!

Thicke also echoed the same feelings and only focused on his love for his wife telling Prestige Hong Kong, "I don't know if I would still be alive in some ways if it wasn't for Paula." He continued, "She's been my rock, my muse, my inspiration and I love her."

There have not been any statements released regarding what caused the couple to finally call it quits, but it looks like Thicke will be able to focus on his work as he heads out on The Blurred Lines Tour that was supposed to start Feb. 21 in Orlando. However he has cancelled the first three dates, citing vocal issues according to USA Today.
