The Tomorrow People is about to air the first season finale, and it will likely be one of the craziest cliffhangers that fans have ever seen, leaving speculation on the chances of a second season.

Stephen Will Be Put 'Over the Edge?'

On Monday, TVLine posted an interview with producer Phil Klemmer who revealed that the season finale will be "like an Everest-sized cliffhanger." He also mentioned some details about the second year, which seems like it might have a higher chance of taking place.

"Season 1 was very much a show about an adolescent hero dealing with adolescent issues, and Season 2 will be much more a show about adults," Klemmer said. "That means jumping into the future. Stephen's quest has been to understand who is and what he is and to bring his family together."

The producer exposed some more details on what viewers can expect after Stephen lost his family. The second season is going to be set up a certain way while the finale will likely not be a happy one.

"Season 2, I want it to be not about the Tomorrow People hiding and being on the run. I want it to be what they would do if they were unencumbered," Klemmer said. "The way we're leaving things at the end of [Episode] 21, it looks like humankind could very well be doomed, and that's a distinct possibility."

Klemmer also mentioned that viewers can "certainly expect" someone to die.

The Tomorrow People airs on Mondays at 9 p.m. ET on The CW.
