Despite being the most popular original show in CMT history, southern towns seem to want nothing to do with mega-hit Party Down South.

Mattie and Lyle's Secret Relationship Being Exposed In Season 2?

The show, which was already kept from its originally planned location for Season 2, and met major resistance where it filmed, is already being shut out of towns for an as-of-yet unfilmed third season.

According to The Sun-Herald, residents of Ocean Springs, Mississippi, where the show has tapped as a potential third season filming location, have already filed a petition on social media to keep the show from filming there.

Warrant Issued For Mattie Breaux's Arrest?

"Let our elected officials know that WE ARE NOT OKAY WITH THIS!!! Please sign the petition," an attachment on the Ocean Springs "Remember When" Facebook page reads before linking out to the petition.

The petition was first filed May 22, and has received some significant buzz that is shared on the page. As of press time, the petition itself had already gathered 568 signatures.

Keith Domen, of New Orleans, who started the petition, spoke with the Sun-Herald about his opposition to the show filming in his hometown.

"I don't think that would be a good representation on a national platform," he said. "I definitely don't think that would be good for Ocean Springs' image. "

Town mayor Connie Moran has said that the city officials cannot stop the show from coming to the town, aside from refusing the production company a business-privilege license. Town officials may be hesitant to do so, however, because allowing the show to film would mean money and exposure for local businesses.

"I don't want to play to those stereotypes," Domen said. "It bothers me that this show has a really large national reach."

The show, which filmed its first season in Murrells Inlet, S.C. and second season in Athens, Ga. and Cabo San Lucas Mexico, follows the antics of eight young southerners living in a house together as they mostly party and drink heavily. The cast consists of: 31-year-old Josh Murray from Louise, Miss., 28-year-old Lyle Boudreaux from Lafayette, La., 33-year-old Ryan 'Daddy' Richards from Orange Beach, Ala., 26-year-old Walt Windham from Frankfort, Ky., 21-year-old Lauren White from Pineville, La.;, 24-year-old Mattie Breaux from Gheens, La., 23-year-old Taylor 'Lil Bit' Wright from Rockingham, N.C., and 25-year-old Tiffany Heinen from Eunice, La.

This is not the first time the show has met significant resistance from residents of a town they planned to film in. They originally planned to film the second season in Pensacola, Fla., but also met a social media resistance campaign called "Locals Against Party Down South," which petitioned that the cast not be allowed to film there, citing their promiscuity and drunken nights.

"Jersey Shore and Party Down South are like the TV producers big inside joke of stereotyping us," Pensacola residents Amber Kelley and Bri Snellgrove wrote in a February Facebook post. "PDS makes a mockery of our Southern pride by showing adults who claim to have manners and then cut immediately to some of the worst behavior seen outside of a frat house."

Even after the show relocated to Athens, Ga. it met resistance, as both the mayor and local business owners rejected the cast at points.

Party Down South season 2 premiered Thursday, June 5 at 10 pm. on CMT.
