Dana Brody (Morgan Saylor) was widely disliked by many of Homeland's fans, with Season 3 of the series devoting a lot of screen time to the character. With the death of her father Nicholas Brody (Damian Lewis) in the Season 3 finale, her purpose on the series lessened, so Saylor was downgraded to guest star status moving forward with the series.

Saylor recently spoke with Vulture about Homeland and its upcoming fourth season, revealing that she has not returned to film any scenes.

"They started filming yesterday, and there are no plans right now," Saylor said when asked if there was a plan to bring back Dana in Season 4. "But [showrunner] Alex Gansa says he hopes I'll be back. And Dana will have a half-sister."

Saylor noted that the death of Brody in the Season 3 finale was "intense," though easier to cope with having known it was going to happen.

"We knew he was supposed to die, so that made it easier. It was still intense. But those writers are smart and make bold choices," she said.

Homeland is currently filming in Cape Town, South Africa, which is doubling as Islamabad and Kabul, with Carrie (Claire Danes) adjusting to her new life as the Station Chief in these two cities.

Homeland Season 4 premieres in fall 2014 on Showtime, though the network has not yet announced a specific air date. It will likely return in September in its regular Sundays at 9 p.m. timeslot.
