Castle creator Andrew W. Marlowe has essentially squashed any possibility that Senator Bracken (Jack Coleman) was involved in Rick's (Nathan Fillion) car crash in the show's Season 6 finale.

Marlowe spoke with TVLine's Matt Webb Mitovich about what not to expect from Season 7, revealing that the Bracken arc will not continue.

"The Bracken arc is pretty much over," Marlowe said. "We know who [killed Johanna], Beckett has gotten [justice].... If there is any future storytelling with Senator [Bracken], it would be breaking new ground and not going back to revisit the old ghosts."

However, this doesn't mean that Bracken is gone for good. Marlowe teased that he may be back eventually.

"Bracken isn't dead, he's a formidable person and he may someday entertain notions for revenge," Marlowe said, "but it would be [in the context of] storytelling that moves us forward."

Rick's fiery car wreck upset Castle viewers as Beckett (Stana Katic) had to see her fiancé's car engulfed in flames while she was wearing her wedding dress.

In other Castle news, TVLine is also reporting that while there are some shakeups behind-the-scenes involving Marlowe stepping down as showrunner, the series likely won't be too different.

The report notes that while David Amann is stepping in as showrunner and doing the day-to-day running of Castle, it will continue to be Marlowe's vision.

Castle Season 7 premieres in fall 2014 on ABC, though the network has not yet announced a specific air date. It will be returning to its regular Monday at 10 p.m. timeslot.
