Kandi Burruss of Bravo's The Real Housewives of Atlanta is updating fans on how her friend and co-star Phaedra Parks is doing after her husband, Apollo Nida, was handed an eight-year sentence in federal prison.

Apollo Nida Defends Phaedra Parks For Marrying Him Despite Criminal Past

Burruss told Hollywood Life just hours after Nida's sentencing Tuesday, "She's basically working. That's how I deal with things too; when I have a lot going on, I just put more into work. I know that she's promoting her book and doing the book tour stuff like that and she's not really trying to focus as much on what's happening."

All eyes were on Nida Tuesday when he was sentenced, but one person who was noticeably missing was his wife.

Apollo Nida Hints That Marriage is in Trouble

His mother and brother pleaded to the judge before Nida was sentenced, but Parks was nowhere in sight. Just before the sentencing she went on a girls trip to Mexico to celebrate Biitter Sweet singer Fantasia Barrino's birthday. However, Kandi Burruss' husband, Todd Tucker (who is a good friend of Nida's) went on the vacation too.

Parks' failure to appear in court with Nida isn't too shocking considering the two have not been seen in public together in 96 days. Nida did say recently that he and Parks are "working" on their relationship.

Still, before he was sentenced to what could have been 30 years behind bars, Nida confessed that he hoped Parks would wait for and support him while he is in jail.

"I think Phaedra, in a perfect world, should be supportive as a wife should be ... But if she choses to derail from the plan, then that's what she chooses to do. Whatever's been thrown at me, I deal with it. I would like to say I would want her to stay around and do what a wife should do. But tomorrow's not promised. "
