While the most notable cameo in Guardians of the Galaxy came at the end of the movie with Howard the Duck, another one went relatively unnoticed but director James Gunn assured fans that it is an important one.

Marvel Releases Fan-Favorite 'Guardians of the Galaxy' Scene

In both Guardians and the credits for Thor: The Dark World when The Collector's museum is shown, a cocoon is seen. During the final credits of Guardians when Howard the Duck is talking, the cocoon is open with no one inside of it. Now Gunn has revealed that the identity of the person in the cocoon was Adam Warlock.

In the comics, Adam Warlock is a character created to be the perfect human at a scientific installation called The Beehive. He also is crucial to the Infinity Gem plot that is rumored for Avengers 3 with Thanos.

Could Iron Man and the 'Guardians' Meet Up In A Future Movie?

In a podcast interview with Empire, Gunn noted, "well many people may look up to the right of The Collector as we first see him, and you will see a certain duck named Howard that turns to look at the group. That's one of my favourite little things in the background," Gunn said.

"There are the slither creature from my movie Slither behind The Collector, those guys are pretty obvious. You have Adam Warlock's cocoon, you have all sorts of other characters from Marvel movies."

While Gunn didn't go into much detail about Warlock, it seems like the perfect human may be making an appearance in Guardians of the Galaxy 2 prior to meeting the Avengers in the third movie when they fight Thanos.

Guardians of the Galaxy 2 is set to open in theaters on July 28, 2017.
