On Wednesday, Warner Bros. announced its extensive lineup of movies slated for release in theaters from 2016-2020. Among them was Aquaman, which the press release says will be starring Momoa and has a release date of 2018.

Momoa had previously been announced to be playing Aquaman by Hitfix, but this is the first official confirmation from Warner Bros. He will reportedly be appearing as the character at some point during Batman v Superman.

According to the Hitfix report, which was released back in June, Aquaman "is not pleased about the World Engine and what it did to the Indian Ocean" in Batman v Superman. This suggests that he is none-too-pleased about Superman's (Henry Cavill) path of destruction that occurred at the end of 2013's Man of Steel.

As this is not the full Justice League movie, it is unlikely that Momoa will be appearing onscreen for too long in Batman v Superman, though he will probably be appearing on one or both Justice League movies, set for 2017 and 2019 respectively. Both Justice League movies will be directed by Zack Snyder, who is also directing Batman v Superman.

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice is scheduled for release in theaters on March 25, 2016.
