While there is a ton of uncertainty around the future of Sony's Spider-Man franchise, they have placed a number of clues on where they would like to head with it if they do choose to move forward with or without the main star.

Emma Stone Getting Her Own Franchise With Sony's Spider-Man Universe?

As of now, the third Spider-Man movie is planned to come out in 2018 after Sinister Six in 2016 and a female-led spin-off in 2017. This will leave the character in a four-year gap unless the web-slinger shows up in Sinister Six as has been rumored.

But that rumor also says that Andrew Garfield could be done in the role as the actor may be a part of a soft reboot of the franchise with a new actor taking on the role of Peter Parker/Spider-Man in Sinister Six before moving on to the next standalone movie and an appearance in a few Marvel movies including Captain America 3.

A Major Spider-Man Villain Could Die In The Next Movie?

This deal that is supposedly being struck between Sony and Marvel could prolong the next standalone Spider-Man movie even longer as the character may be teaming up with Avengers as they move towards him coming over to Marvel full-time with Sony unsure of how to sell the character anymore.

Before that, it seemed like they were ready to go the route of the Clone Saga plot with both Gwen Stacy (Emma Stone) and Peter's father returning as clones and setting up a plot with Peter having to deal with the return of two people he thought to be dead. This could also include a Peter Parker clone he would have to fight.

As of now, no concrete plans are in place for Amazing Spider-Man 3 with Garfield unsure of where they are going moving forward.
