Regardless of what happens at Marvel with Sony, the studio is looking towards their next Spider-Man related effort, Sinister Six, to lead them into their future, if they have one, with the character. The leading character for that movie could be the villain from the last Spider-Man movie, Green Goblin (played by Dane DeHaan), but could also have his father re-appearing,

During The Amazing Spider-Man 2, Harry sees his father Norman (Chris Cooper) die due to the disease that plagues his entire family. He tries to rid that with the help of Spider-Man and his blood, but instead opts for becoming the Green Goblin and destroying the hero.

What Questions Need To Be Answered In 'The Amazing Spider-Man 3?'

With Green Goblin and Oscorp most likely leading the Sinister Six, it seems like both Harry and a re-born Norman could become major players again in the Spidey universe that Sony is working on, but could Cooper come back full-time?

It seems to be hinted that Norman may come back to life someway and be able to lead the Sinister Six, which could cause friction with Harry and lead the Green Goblin to find his own destruction both with the Sinister Six and Spider-Man.

Norman didn't have a big role in the last movie, but it seems like Sony wants to keep him prominent moving forward, which could mean eliminating his son.
