Whether or not Longmire gets a fourth season next year, the cancelled A&E drama might just be headed to the People's Choice Awards.

'Longmire' Fans Receive Top Honor

While many fans have already taken up the cause, Longmire star Bailey Chase (Branch) announced this week that Thursday would be the deadline for voting for his A&E character under Favorite Cable TV actor for the 2015 People's Choice Awards.

While Chase isn't one of the 15 nominees listed, there is a "write in" section for fans to nominate their own favorite. With Longmire's impressive online following, from "Twitter stampedes" to a petition to save the series, it's possible the Longmire Posse could turn the tides and change the game.

There are plenty of big-name stars in this category, from William H. Macy For Showtime's Shameless to Steven Buscemi for HBO's Boardwalk Empire, which recently finished up its fifth and final season.

Longmire is of course a long shot this award season, but it is an underdog fans certainly like to root for and it's maintained a loyal following even after A&E decided to drop the program.

The final nominees will be revealed on Nov. 4, at which point viewers will be able to vote for the winners in each category.

If Longmire does manage to find a new network, it will likely return for a fourth season during the second half of 2015.
