Tim McGraw and Faith Hill may not have taken home Single Of The Year at the CMA Awards on Wednesday, but for this couple just being nominated was truly something special.

Tim McGraw & Faith Hill Flee Nashville

Before the show on Wednesday, McGraw opened up to the Country Music Association about what it was like to sing this particular single with his wife of 18 years and why the single Meanwhile Back At Mama's, meant so much to him.

"It's always excited, anytime you get nominated…" explained McGraw during the interview (featured below). He added that the CMAs are always special because "they're such a great group of artists" and to be nominated there alongside his wife was amazing.

"To get a nomination like that for a song like that," he noted, "A song that Faith and I had done together...it was a special song for us and I think that it is just one of those kinds of records that rarely come along for an artist and I was glad to be a part of it and was glad she sang it with me."

McGraw remains in awe of his wife, both as a person and as a performer. "She's the best singer I think there is in this business," he declared quite honestly in his own soft-spoken way. "She's just incredible. When she brings her vocals to a song, it brings so much warmth and passion and honesty and soul to it. And for me honestly when I sing with her it's just about trying to keep up."

Meanwhile Back At Mama's is the couple's latest duet off McGraw's most recent album Sundown Heaven Town. The pair continue to live in Nashville with their three daughters.
