Aaliyah Movie Cast: Alexandra Shipp Says 'Resolution' Singer's Style Influenced Her When She Was A Teen [VIDEO]
Alexandra Shipp is set to star in Lifetime's Aaliyah: Princess Of R&B and has said she has always looked up to the late singer and went to extreme lengths to mimic her style.

She shared a snapshot of Aaliyah and Justin Timberlake on Oct. 22 and revealed just how far she went to look like the singer way before she got the lead role as the Back & Forth singer.
She wrote in the caption, "Funny story about this Aaliyah look: I saw her in this top and was completely obsessed.

"I made my mother take me to 3 malls trying to find it. Finally after an entire day of looking, a woman at Macy's told me that it was probably custom made (u kno, because she's a frickin star) and I went home empty handed.
"To this DAY, this is one of my favorite looks of hers and it represents the epitome of sexy in my eyes #rip#babygirl".

Shipp made an appearance on Big Morning Buzz Live Tuesday and revealed she was just 12-years-old at the time of the incident. She added that being a huge fan of Aaliyah is what made getting the role so major.
"She is a funny woman. She's business don't get me wrong."
Shipp also opened up about having her own solo project and being an independent artist. She revealed that she is going to release a single in December.
