While visionary David Lynch is not interested in talking too much about the return of Twin Peaks in 2016, he did recently discuss what it's like returning to its beautiful yet strange world.

'Twin Peaks' Star Sheryl Lee Slams Negative Report About Her Life

Lynch, who created Twin Peaks with Mark Frost, spoke with Agenda Magazine about a variety of topics and eventually got around to discussing its return to television in 2016, a full 25 years after its departure from the airwaves.

With the series now transferring to Showtime, Lynch admitted that the show isn't going to suddenly become raunchy.

Is Lara Flynn Boyle Even Being Invited Back To Play 'Twin Peaks' Character in 2016?

"We had freedom on Twin Peaks. Way more than you imagine," he explained. "I don't know how it happened, but there were hardly any restrictions. So it's not like we're saying now: 'Oh boy, we're gonna really do some raunchy things.' We're gonna do the same things, but in better quality. And film remains the best quality."

Discussing the positive reception to the news that Twin Peaks would be returning after so many years, he could not be more proud.

"It's beautiful," he admitted. "I like the world too. Somehow back then ideas came and a world was made. It's great that people like that world and want to go back into it."

Lynch then squashed any further discussion of the series' return, saying, "I'm not talking about Twin Peaks now. Not until 2016."

This isn't too much of a surprise considering Lynch and Frost are still in the pre-production stage of filming. No actors have officially been announced as returning, but these announcements are likely to come in 2015 as the release date gets closer. It's also possible that Lynch and Frost will try to keep everything a secret so as to not ruin the mystery and the surprise, staples of Twin Peaks back when it aired in 1990-91.
