The Librarians' Flynn Carsen is back.

'The Librarians' TNT: Flynn Carsen's World 'Destroyed', How Will Noah Wyle Pick Up The Pieces

Viewers haven't seen Noah Wyle's genius character since 2008's The Librarian: The Curse of the Judas Chalice, but Carsen has spent the interviewing years doing what he does best - fighting evil and uncovering the world's most dangerous artifacts for the Metropolitan Public Library.

Unfortunately, Flynn's devotion to the library has a price. When the TNT trilogy picks up once more as a new series, Carsen will be isolated by his work.

"Over the last 10 years he's gotten better at it, gotten more experienced, but at the same time become lonelier and eventually now has become sort of this mythic figure that travels the world fighting evil," explained executive producer John Rodgers in a new behind-the-scenes featurette.

Flynn's wit and humor won't have faded, however, and that is exactly why Wyle was so eager to pick up the role once more.

"I missed Flynn Carsen so much," Wyle said. "I wanted to get back in his skin so badly. I wanted to go to work and be silly and goofy and do spit takes and pratfalls. I'd be crazy to pass up this opportunity.

Fans can catch up with the Librarian, his antics, and his new cohorts when The Librarians premieres Dec. 7 at 8 p.m. ET on TNT. Click the video below to see a preview.
