HBO's True Detective scored its third True Blood alum this week with the addition of actress Ashley Hinshaw.

'True Detective' Earns 4 Golden Globe Nominations In New Category 

On Thursday Deadline announced that the actress with be joining the crime drama's star-studded cast, though it is uncertain just yet you she'll be playing.

So far this season the show has gathered top-grade performers from both television and film. Hinshaw will be the third True Blood alum to join the series, with James Frain and Riley Smith (who appeared during the True Blood series finale with Hinshaw) already set to appear.

'True Detective' Lands '80s Music Star 

True Detective's new season will be led by Vince Vaughn (career criminal Frank Semyon), Colin Farrell (Detective Ray Velcoro), Rachel McAdams (Detective Ani Bezzerides), and Taylor Kitsch (Officer Paul Woodrugh). These stars will have some pretty big shoes to fill following the Emmy and Golden Globe nominated performances season 1 performances by Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson.  

There story will follow the murder of a California city manager, with creator and season one writer Nic Pizzolatto penning all of the episodes. Unlike season 1, which was directed solely by Emmy-award winner Cary Fukunaga, the show's second installment will feature a a number of different directors. With a new cast, direction and setting, HBO is likely hoping for a new tone blended with the high-caliber writing and performances that made the show an instant hit during its first season.

True Detective will return on HBO with its second season mid-2015.
