Miranda Lambert may have owned at the award shows over the last few months, but 2015 might just be Blake Shelton's year.

Blake Shelton & Miranda Lambert's Boozy Reputation Could Be Fading

It looks like Shelton might just get a chance to play at the Super Bowl next month. According to Hollywood Life on Monday, the 38-year-old Neon Light singer has been asked to perform The Star-Spangled Banner at the game on Feb. 1.

Shelton has neither accepted nor rejected the offer just yet, but it could be a great experience for a singer who likes to mix things up. In addition to mentoring on NBC's The Voice, Shelton has also helmed his own comedy special and starred in some Pizza Hut ads.

Supposedly producers for the Super Bowl were interested in finding a man to sing the national anthem, perhaps to balance out Katy Perry's performance at halftime. Shelton was apparently the first name on their list.

If the country star turns them down, perhaps the NFL will seek out Carrie Underwood. In 2014 she was rumored to be the game's half-time performer before the gig went to Katy Perry, and for two years now the singer's performed the opening song for NBC's Sunday Night Football. She is also good friends with Shelton's wife, Miranda Lambert, which could give him reason to throw in a good word for her.

Shelton recently spent a quiet Christmas with Lambert at their home in Tishomingo, Okla. Both singers will resume touring in 2015.
