Most of the world remembers Ireland Baldwin as the tween daughter of an abusive-sounding father Alec Baldwin. In the now infamous voicemail rant, Alec told his then, 11-year-old daughter that she was "a thoughtless little pig" because she did't answer his call.

Ireland, now 16, is the only child from Alec's marriage with Academy-Award winner Kim Basinger.

But she told Page Six Magazine that she and her father are extremely close and that the voicemail was blown out of proportion.

"I've always had a really great relationship with my dad," she told Page Six Magazine. "The only problem with that voicemail was that people made it out to be a way bigger deal than it was. He's said stuff like that before just because he's frustrated. For me it was like, 'OK, whatever.' I called him back, I was like, 'Sorry, Dad, I didn't have my phone.' That was it."

The voicemail was left during the ugly divorce battle with Bassinger.

During the rant, he said, "I don't give a damn that you're 12 years old, or 11 years old, or that you're a child, or that your mother is a thoughtless pain in the ass....You've made me feel like a fool over and over and over again. I'm going to straighten your ass out....You're a rude, thoughtless, little pig."

Due to the damage it caused, Alec lost his visitation rights for almost a year. But the father and daughter duo are able to laugh about it now.

"We almost did something funny on YouTube, of me calling him and yelling at him," she said. "We were just talking about it the other week."

Alec is such an important part of Ireland's life that she decided to to be homeschooled in L.A. so she has more time to spend with Alec and his new wife Hilaria Thomas, 28, in New York City. Although it might seem had to believe, Ireland likes her young stepmother.

"I didn't want to go my senior year without spending time with my dad," she says. "And Hilaria and I are really close. She's like a big sister to me, but I feel like I haven't spent enough time with her yet. We have a lot more to learn about each other and we have a lot more experiences to have together. We joke around and I call her 'Mom.' But I respect her, it's not like I'm Parent Trap-ping her, setting up booby traps in her room."

Ireland also said that both of her parents inspire her.
