Sophie Turner might be accustomed to her Game of Thrones fame, but that didn't stop the young actress from bursting into tears when she found out about her new role.

Original Cyclops Says Tye Sheridan Is 'Perfect Fit' For 'X-Men: Apocalypse Role

On Jan. 23 Turner was announced as the new Jean Grey for Bryan Singer's upcoming Marvel film X-Men: Apocalypse and the actress just couldn't be more grateful for the opportunity.

"I was on my way to an audition and I was getting out of the car," explained Turner to Access Hollywood on Monday. "And then my agent started ringing and she was like 'Have you heard the news?' 'No, what news?' Then she was like 'Check your Twitter'. So I checked it."

Young 'Game Of Thrones' Star Tapped For 'X-Men: Apocalypse' 

Turner quickly saw that congratulations were pouring in on her scoring the role of Jean Grey and the young actress immediately found herself getting emotional. "I just started crying…" she admitted. "I just hope I do justice to this incredible character."

Turner is joined by fellow newcomers Tye Sheridan (Mud) who is set to play Cyclops and Alexandra Shipp (Aaliyah: The Princess Of R&B) who will be stepping into the role of Storm.

The three new stars will be joining returning cast members from X-Men: Days Of Future Past, including Jennifer Lawrence (Mystique), Michael Fassbender (Magneto), Evan Peters (Quicksilver), and James McAvoy (Charles Xavier).

Production has yet to begin, though it will likely have to be planned around Turner's Game Of Thrones schedule.

X-Men: Apocalypse is scheduled to hit theatres on May 27, 2016.
