PlayStation has taken its first leap into original programing with Powers, a new live-action series which is set to debut next month.

Freya's Loyalties Questioned On 'The Originals' 

Based on the graphic novel created by writer Brian Michael Bendis and artist Michael Avon Oeming, Powers follows homicide detectives Christian Walker (Sharlto Copley) and Deena Pilgrim (Susan Heyward). Walker and Pilgrim investigate cases involving people known as "Powers". With supernatural abilities and human imperfections, Powers prove that exceptional abilities do not always make for exceptional people.

On Tuesday PlayStation released a behind-the-scenes look at the series, including interviews with the cast and crew (featured below).

"In this show they have all the vices and virtues of regular human beings," noted actor Noah Taylor, who plays a criminal who can appear wherever he wants whenever he wants.

Filmed on location in Los Angeles, the series explores how people who superhuman abilities become celebrities in a media-obsessed world.

As a man who has been on both sides of the spectrum, Walker walks the line between understand what it was like to be a Power and knowing now how it is to be ordinary.

"Walker is a guy who used to have super powers and lost them," explained Copley. Walker is haunted by the knowledge that he wasn't a good person when he was a Power and longs to find out if he'd make for a better hero now if given a second chance.

In addition to Copley, Heyward and Taylor, the series is also set to star Eddie Izzard (Wolfe), Michelle Forbes (Retro Girl), Ilesya Rulin (Calista), and Logan Browning (Zora). 

Powers will premiere on PlayStation Plus with its first season on March 10.
