On Tuesday producer Christopher King voiced his congratulations for Kinnear, as well as for everyone who has worked on the program so far.

Production for the show's second season is currently underway in Dublin, with over half of the episodes completed. This year the series will take a close look at the occult, as well as how evil is not limited to monsters. Sir Malcolm (Timothy Dalton) and his crew will face human enemies, including the mysterious and dangerous Evelyn Poole (Helen McCrory).

Based on the last few teaser (included below), this could be the show's darkest season yet.

Presented by The International Press Academy, The 19th Annual Satellite Awards took place in Century City on Sunday, Feb. 15.

Penny Dreadful will return on Showtime for a second season on Sunday, May 3 at 10 p.m. ET/PT.
