One of the stars of Downton Abbey opened up on the series coming to a close, something that she will likely be able to move on from.

Actress Reveals Something 'Bittersweet' About 'Downton Abbey'

On Sunday, Radio Times posted an interview with Penelope Wilton, who plays Isobel Crawley on the British-American drama. During her appearance at the Olivier Awards, she talked about how okay she feels about the series finishing up its last season.

"I'm not upset about it," she said. "When something has run its course, it's good to end on a high note."

Is Maggie Smith NOT Planning To Leave 'Downton Abbey?'

It might be a good idea to let the show go anyway since the actress made it clear that her character can't stick around forever.

"We have to move on from 1926," she said. "And if we moved on much further I'd be dead."

The show's creator Julian Fellowes is working on a new series called The Gilded Age; according to the site, perhaps Wilton might be considered to be part of the new drama although nothing has been made official.

"Well, we'll have to see," the actress said. "You can't second-guess Julian."

In a video posted on E! News, Elizabeth McGovern, who plays Cora on Downton, also made it clear that the show has to end at some point.

"I haven't taken a poll, but I think that the actors in general really feel as though it's the right time for it to end," the actress admitted. "I don't think anybody wanted it to go on beyond its sell-by date."

Downton Abbey Season 6 is expected to premiere in the United States in January 2016 on PBS.
