Eyewitness Gives New Details Regarding Kim Richards' Arrest

Although the official season 6 cast likely won't be announced for several more months, a sobriety expert claims Richards' continued participation with the Bravo series may put her future recovery in jeopardy.

"This is one of those moments when her painfully public problem can become a personally promising opportunity to turn her life around," William C. Moyers of the Hazelden Betty Ford Foundation told PEOPLE Magazine last week. "But only if she takes seriously the reality of what's happened, by stepping away from the limelight and instead putting her attention on the help she needs and deserves to get better."

Did Bravo Help 'RHOBH' Star Kim Richards Hide Drinking Problem?

On April 16, after battling rumors of a possible relapse throughout the fifth season of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, Richards was arrested and charged with public intoxication, resisting an officer, trespassing and battery on an officer.

"There is nothing funny or appealing about the reality of Kim's situation," Moyers continued. "She owes it to herself to step away from the limelight to get help. Her costars and Bravo should encourage Kim to take the first step or next step to recover."

During season 5, Richards admitting to taking one of her cancer-stricken ex-husband's prescribed pain medications, but claimed it was not a relapse, as she didn't willingly abandon her recovery program.

Richards will discuss her recent arrest during the April 28 episode of Dr. Phil.
