One of the main questions left lingering in the finale of season 6 of The Good Wife was if Peter (Chris Noth) will run for president.

Season 7 To Conclude CBS Legal Drama?

As Peter broached the subject with his family, stating that he would essentially be aiming for the position of vice president by joining the race for president, the children, particularly Zach (Graham Phillips), were enthusiastic about the prospect, Alicia (Julianna Margulies) wasn't encouraging. Through his discussions about this, Alicia seemed distracted and more engaged in her own legal cases. Toward the end of the finale, she finally let Peter know that she thought he shouldn't go ahead with this.

While Peter looked disconcerted he did not definitively respond to Alicia. If Peter chooses to ignore Alicia's opinion and goes ahead with the candidacy anyway, this could really switch things up in season 7. In some ways, this would also be a poignant turn of events, bringing things full circle, as Alicia will be expected to stand by Peter's side as "the good wife" through his campaigning. She has already been knocked down, by having to resign from the position of state's attorney and also lost her previous job, her partnership at Florrick/Agos/Lockhart. Peter's run for presidency would in some way render the final blow.

We do know that Alicia is set to bounce back, and won't give up as easily as she is willing to start over again and might even partner up with Louis Canning (Michael J. Fox) in season 7.
