Fans were left quite broken-hearted when they learned that Jennifer Love Hewitt, who played Kate Callahan, was not returning for season 11 of Criminal Minds.

Showrunner Dishes About Jennifer Love Hewitt's Decision To Leave Criminal Minds

Other than the disappointment it has also made fans nervous about any other possible exits from the series. Recently, showrunner Erica Messer reassured about AJ Cook's pregnancy not causing her to leave, and that the actress, who plays Jennifer Jareau, will be back.

There has been no word about the contract renewals of the cast members that play the main characters. Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, Messer allayed these concerns. "I would not be worried about it. I really wouldn't. We have such a strong group together for so many years. I think season 11 is going to be a continuation of that," she said.

A Big Twist In JJ's Life Revealed In Finale

Messer had also revealed that Cook might not be there for the first few episodes as she will be a new mother, but she will be bringing JJ to life after that.

Meanwhile, Messer also said that the void left by Hewitt could even be filled up by an old character or a "fun guest star." She also added that the doors were always open for Hewitt's return, if it even meant that she would come back in season 12, or show up for a cameo in season 11.

The finale of Criminal Minds aired on May 6.
