While most of the featured headlines out of the 2012 MLB Winter Meetings have been dominated by chatter of free agent's Josh Hamilton and Zack Greinke, Arizona Diamondbacks star Justin Upton continues to dominate the offseason trade market, as he's being aggressively shopped by his general manager Kevin Towers.

Recent National League CY Young winner R.A. Dickey aside, Upton may be the No. 1 gem on the trading block at the moment. Since most teams haven't been willing to reach superstar Josh Hamilton's asking price, Upton could clearly be a greater fit for any ball club.

Jon Morosi of Fox Sports tweeted that the talented youngster has reportedly garnered interest from the likes of the Texas Rangers, Cleveland Indians and Seattle Mariners, among other teams.

However, Texas may be looking to make pitcher Zack Greinke their top off-season priority because of the thin pitching market. If the Rangers do end up winning in the Greinke sweepstake, they would still have to address the team's outfield, which would be left with an obvious hole assuming Hamilton went elsewhere.  Hence, an additional acquisition along the lines of Upton would make sense.

The Rangers are seemingly a favorite to land Upton but a possible move would most likely depend on the outcome of the Hamilton negotiations.

At the moment, Texas is rumored to be "working hard" on obtaining Upton, according to a tweet by CBS' Jon Heyman. However, the Diamondbacks would want shortstops Elvis Andrus and Jurickson Profar in exchange, which GM Jon Daniels doesn't seem too keen on.

Other rumors have Arizona entertaining a three-way trade for Upton that would potentially involve Indians shortstop Asdrubal Cabrera.

Texas does possess both the resources and financial means to acquire him. For clubs such as the Indians or the Mariners, the 25-year-old could be a franchise talent and MVP-type player that Cleveland can build their team around.
