Beyonce has finally broken her post baby silence and she is speaking out about the death of a legend and influence for her, Etta James.

Etta James passed away at age 73 earlier today from complications of leukemia. Beyonce famously portrayed James in the 2008 film Cadillac Records.

"This is a huge loss. Etta James was one of the greatest vocalists of our time," Beyoncé, posted in a message on her website. "I am so fortunate to have met such a queen. Her musical contributions will last a lifetime."

Calling her "the eternally great Etta James," Beyonce reflected on what it was like to play the R&B legend.

"Playing Etta James taught me so much about myself, and singing her music inspired me to be a stronger artist,” Beyonce wrote. “When she effortlessly opened her mouth, you could hear her pain and triumph. Her deeply emotional way of delivering a song told her story with no filter."

"She was fearless, and had guts,” Beyonce continued. “She will be missed."

Beyonce was not the only celebrity to react to the news of Etta James’ death. Many celebrities took to Twitter to make comments including Russell Simmons, Kelly Rowland, Gabrielle Union and many others.
