Rick Ross crashed his expensive Rolls Royce into a residential building while trying to escape gun shots early Monday morning in Florida, according to NBC.

The Miami-born rapper was leaving the Floridian Restaurant in Fort Lauderdale when a shoot-out erupted.

Police officials confirmed to NBC Miami that shots were fired around 5 a.m. in the area of Southeast 15th Ave. and E. Las Olas Blvd. in Fort Lauderdale.

Witnesses reported that Ross, whose real name is William Leonard Roberts II, was in the restaurant celebrating his birthday. Gun shots were heard just as the star who turned 37, exited the restaurant to return to his vehicle. No one was injured at the scene but witnesses said that there were at least a dozen shots fired.

Many of the surrounding businesses in the area were struck with bullets. Ross crashed his Rolls Royce into a building on 311 Southeast 15th Ave as he tried escaped the hail of bullets coming from another vehicle. The rapper's smashed vehicle was towed away from the scene.

The “God Forgives I Don’t” rapper was said to be traveling in the vehicle with a female passenger at the time of the shooting.

Ross founded the Maybach Music Group (MMG) in 2009, which hosts a roster of talented performers such as Wale, Meek Mill and French Montana. In February 2012 Ross was named “The Hottest MC in the Game” by MTV, topping other successful acts including Drake, Kanye West and Nicki Minaj.

In 2011 Ross dealt with a number of health scares. He fell unconscious and paramedics had to resuscitate him after he suffered a seizure aboard a flight from Fort Lauderdale to Memphis, Tenn. He suffered another seizure hours later aboard his private jet while traveling to perform at a concert. In an interview with BET’s "106 and Park," Ross connected his seizures to sleep deprivation.

“I felt a little wore out but I felt like I could keep going,” he said. “And I boarded a jet and I had another seizure and when I snapped out of that one, I woke up in front of doctor.”
