Toni Braxton is stepping out on faith, by acting in her first movie ever and she's bringing her son along for the ride. On Feb. 9 at 8PM, Lifetime TV will air the Braxton film, Twist of Faith which features a small role played by the singer's autistic son, Diezel, 9.

Diezel was originally on board to play the much larger role of the son to Braxton's character, but she chose to modify his role in light of his autism struggles on top of juggling school work.

"He was supposed to play my son initially but by the time we worked out the shooting schedule, school had started", Braxton said.

The "Braxton Family Values" star didn't want to put too much pressure on her son.

"Even though he's considered high functioning right now, he wasn't in the past, and that's why I thought him carrying the movie and doing the movie and tutoring would have been too much for him. "

Braxton said Diezel was a little disappointed at first, but he came around and was just happy to be a part of the project.

Braxton, 45, said playing the lead character was challenging as it is very different from music, which is second nature to her.

"Singing is indigenous for me, but acting is not. I've had to work to prepare for it," she explained.

She warns fans to brace for her first debut and to be gentle.

"Be nice to me, guys! This is my first real acting debut! There are a few boo-boos. It's a lot more technical than I thought", she said.

The film follows Jacob Fisher, an Orthodox Jewish Cantor whose wife and three kids were murdered right in front of him in their Brooklyn, NY apartment. Fisher, played by David Julian Hirsh disappears to a small town in Alabama to escape his grief. There, he meets Toni Braxton's character, Nina Yarber who is a singer in the choir and a devout Christian. Nina befriends Jacob and their budding friendship quickly flourishes into romance.
