Has President Obama's right hand man given up on his own political party? That's what critics can't help but wonder as Vice President Joe Biden has revealed that there's a possible chance that Republican hopeful Donald Trump might win the White House and become President later this year.

According to Us Weekly on Tuesday, Biden thinks that come this time next year the entire country could be hearing the words "President Trump."

He told Savannah Guthrie during an interview, "Yes, I think it's possible. I hope that if that were to occur--I hope it doesn't because I have fundamentally different views than he does--I'd hope that he gets a lot more serious about the issues, a lot more serious about gaining knowledge about how this nation functions and foreign policy and domestic policy. But look, that's a long way off."

Trump is currently leading in the polls ahead of his opponents Ted Cruz, Marco Rubio and Jeb Bush. And while there's no doubt that the businessman is gaining momentum ahead of the primaries, President Obama has quite a different opinion when it comes to the former Celebrity Apprentice star.

He said, "Talk to me if he wins. But I'm pretty confident that the overwhelming majority of Americans are looking for the kind of politics that does feed our hopes and not our fears, that does work together and doesn't try to divide, that isn't looking for simplistic solutions and scapegoating but looks for us buckling down and figuring out, 'How do we make things work for the next generation?'"
