The reveal that her character was expecting a child came as she desperately tried to prove that her husband was still alive, and despite previous pregnancy storylines not panning out with entirely happy endings for everyone on The Walking Dead, Laurn Cohan is still pretty excited about Maggie's news.

Action Picking Up Where Things Left Off In The Midseason Finale When 'TWD' Returns?

In an interview with Celebuzz, Cohan revealed that she thought it was a good idea to have Maggie and Glenn (Steven Yuen) expecting a child together because she thought it was a good way of revisiting a moment from the couple's past, where her character reasoned that the apocalypse wasn't a valid reason for them to not thoroughly enjoy whatever life they could have together.

"Since the apocalypse is the only life that they have, I do think it's a good idea," she said. "I think that they want to bring life into this world and in season 3, Maggie says to Glenn 'We're not, but if we would've been it's ok, you can't live your life in fear.'You can't avoid having the full experience that your body allows you to have, because of these zombies, basically. So yeah, I'm really excited for Maggie and Glenn to have a baby Magglenn."

Gregory Is Officially Coming To 'TWD'

Of course, having a baby isn't always a good thing on the show. The only other pregnancy storyline, involving Rick's (Andrew Lincoln) wife Lori (Sarah Wayne-Callies), served as fodder for the brewing conflicts between he and best friend Shane (Jon Bernthal). She died after giving birth to their daughter, Judith, because she needed to be cut in order to get the baby out. She was shot off-screen by her son, Carl (Chandler Riggs) to prevent her from turning and coming back.

The Walking Dead season 6 picks up again on Sunday, Feb. 14 at 9 p.m. on AMC.
