Fans of The Walking Dead have been wondering for a while if Negan's (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) arrival would mean a specific death from the comics would be coming, and now, there's a possibility that it could be-but not to the character fans expect it to.

According to Forbes, Corey Hawkins, who portrays pivotal Alexandria character Heath, has signed on to play the lead in the upcoming 24: Legacy, which could impact his commitment to The Walking Dead. And if his commitment to the show is impacted severely enough and he wants to leave-it could mean his character's demise is imminent.

Though Negan himself isn't expected to make a big splash until season seven, his arrival does coincide in the comics with Glenn's (Steven Yuen) brutal death. However, many have wondered if the show would still go that route after the big fake-out that seemed to hint the character was killed off earlier in the current season by a massive zombie horde. If they are going to still go with the Negan killing off a character story however, Hawkins potentially needing an out could provide the perfect victim.

However, it seems unlikely that the show would use such an impactful moment in the show and waste it on a character that fans haven't really been able to invest in on TV. Heath was under-utilized in the first half of season six, appearing in a larger amount only in the episode where it seemed like Glenn was killed.

It is unclear if Hawkins is planning on leaving the show at all however, which means Heath could still be on the canvas for some time.

The Walking Dead season 6 resumes on Sunday, Feb. 14 at 9 p.m. on AMC.
