Giuliana Rancic, who welcomed her first child via surrogate last summer, revealed the key to a successful marriage with her husband Bill Rancic.

The E! News star said what works for them is putting their "marriage first and (our) child second."

"A lot of people, when they have kids, they put the baby first, and the marriage second," Giuliana, 37, told Us Weekly on Feb. 26. "That works for some people. For us, I find, we put our marriage first and our child second, because the best thing we can do for him is have a strong marriage."

Rancic shared examples of how her and her husband juggle parenthood with their busy careers.

"So we're even stronger than we ever were before and even imagined we could be," she continued. "Like Oscar morning, Duke wakes up, like, twice during the night because he's so hungry and wants to eat every 4 hours. So Bill, like, no question was like 'I got it. Tonight you get a good night's sleep.' "

"When Bill has shoots the next day or meetings the next day, I do it," she added. "It's kind of amazing.... I always say to Bill, 'You were my first baby,' because he was! He was my first love and my first baby and Duke is my second baby."

Now that award season is over- Giuliana interviewed A-list stars on the red carpet at the 85th annual Academy Awards on Sunday for E!- the couple has gone on special dates and spend quality time together.

"We do it all the time. I had Oscars and then Fashion Police, and now I'm done. Awards season is over. So last night Bill surprised me. He had Chicago deep dish pizza flown in from Giordano's!" the reality star shared. "He knows after awards season, I go to town! We had that and some frozen yogurt for dessert and...walked around Santa Monica. It was sweet!"

When the couple welcomed their son Duke on Aug. 29 in a Denver hospital, they said they were "beyond elated." Duke, the first child for both parents, was carried via gestational carrier. He weighed 7 pounds, 4 ounces and measured 20 inches.

Prior to his birth, Giuliana endured several failed IVF attempts, a miscarriage, was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2011 and later underwent a double mastectomy.
