Survivor: Kaoh Rong may be heading towards the increasingly elusive Final 2 instead of a Final 3.

With only five people left on Survivor: Kaoh Rong and two episodes to go, many fans are doing the math and realizing that a Final 2 may be in sight. After all, barring any unforeseen circumstances, the finale will begin with four people left and it's rare to have a finale with only one Tribal Council before the final one.

Survivor host Jeff Probst spoke about this directly with Entertainment Weekly, teasing that there is a distinct possibility that they are doing a Final 2 this season.

"Could it be that we finally listened to you and my friend Mike White (School of Rock, Enlightened) and went back to a final two? I mean, with all the evacuations we've had, it would make sense," he said. "And all your fans know you are an ardent supporter of the final two. Plus, you know that we here on the show think you are the cat's meow and we only want to please you. So... is it possible that we are, at least for this season, going back to a final two? Yes, it is... possible."

Since Survivor: Cook Islands (season 13), the show has only done three Final 2 conclusions, in Survivor: Micronesia (season 16), Survivor: Tocantins (season 18) and Survivor: Cagayan (season 28). However, it's still possible that Kaoh Rong will continue the Final 3 trend, considering a few finales began with four people and ended with a Final 3: Survivor: China (season 15) and Survivor: Philippines (season 25).

Regardless of the amount of people in the Final Tribal Council, we are likely heading towards an epic conclusion if this season is any indication. Aubry Bracco, Cydney Gillon and Tai Trang have all played dynamic games throughout the season and while Joe del Campo and Michele Fitzgerald have been more under the radar, this past episode at least showed that there's still some fight in them.

Survivor: Kaoh Rong airs Wednesdays at 8 p.m. ET/PT on CBS.
