Ellen DeGeneres almost joined her wife Portia de Rossi for the fourth season of Arrested Development, which premiered on Netflix Sun, May 26.

“Mitch [Hurwitz, creator] wanted her to be a part of this but it didn’t come to fruition,” de Rossi, who plays Lindsay Bluth told FOX411’s Pop Tarts column at last week’s Los Angeles Confidential magazine's Real Beauties issue launch party on May 23, in which she graces the cover. “But I would want her to play herself.”

New guest stars include Seth Rogen, Kristen Wiig, Ben Stiller and Lizza Minnelli on the season of the returning television show.

De Rossi said she related to her greedy and materialistic character on the show, but she’s worried about taking on these roles, according to Fox News. “God I hope [we aren’t too alike.] We’re both blonde. But it’s one of things I worry about,” she said. “I keep playing these self-absorbed kind of shallow people. Ugh.”

At the same time however, she appreciates her role on the show.

“It felt like a gift,” she said. “Nobody gets to resurrect a character that they put to bed seven years ago, and for it to be this anticipated and still have this fan base still dying to see what we come up with now is incredibly exciting.”
