Gumby is coming back!

The rights to Gumby have been acquired by Fox with firm intentions to re-imagine the character and give him new life. According to an article on The Hollywood Reporter, the network has plans to produce both a live-action and animated versions of the green icon. From the original television show to the hilarious Eddie Murphy Saturday Night Live farcical adaptation of the character, Gumby has led a full and exciting life. We are eager to see where Gumby will go from here.

Fox purchased the rights to Gumby from the estate of the son of Art Clokey, the original creator of the character. The son's name is Joseph Clokey. Within the terms of the agreement, Fox purchased the rights to all of the well-beloved characters in the Gumby universe including Gumby and Pokey. Charlie Collier, the CEO of Fox Entertainment, expressed the networks great pleasure and honor in having the ability to give these characters new life.

"Competition for globally recognized intellectual property is fierce. Uncovering this gem, with its built-in awareness and affinity, and bringing it to Fox, adds meaningful value and creative possibilities to the IP itself and to multiple divisions of our company...Fox is proud to be home to these iconic characters. Welcome one and all."

Fox will be creating new content while simultaneously streaming the classic show that made everyone fall in love with the character to begin with.

We can't wait to see what the future of Gumby has in store.
