Johnny Depp Might Lose Defamation Case Because of Counselor’s Testimony – Here’s Why
According to Kanye West's divorce proceedings representative, Johnny Depp has been receiving a lot of support amid the defamation case trial, but he might still lose in the end.
The first few days of the defamation trial already heard several critical details about Depp and Heard's former marriage. Most testimonies that were given to the court seemed to be in favor of the "Pirates of the Caribbean" actor.
One testimony - which was made by their former counselor - might affect Depp's standing in the case as it could lead to the whole case being thrown out.
Celebrity divorce attorney Christopher C. Melcher, who represented Kanye West during his divorce proceedings with Kim Kardashian, exclusively told The Daily Beast that the counselor's statement could sway the jury away.
"There are different levels of definitions of abuse. This marriage counselor saying they were mutually abusive kind of proves that point. This supports the truth of Amber's statement she was the victim of an abusive relationship since the defense of nuance is so nuanced," he said.
Melcher added that the recent testimony may confuse the jury since it weakened the core of the defamation case. As a result, the case may also lead to another lawsuit as the defamation trial might have defamed the "Aquaman" actress.
The jury is currently working on finding out whether there was truly a toxic relationship that led Heard to write her op-ed for The Washington Post.
Johnny Depp Still Going Good in Defamation Trial
Despite that whole, the divorce attorney acknowledged that Depp and his team have been doing well since the trial began.
"So far, Depp's team has done a good job arguing he was not physically violent, at least in one incident. But the question is not if he was physically violent. So I think they have a lot more work to do to prove Amber's claims in the piece are false," he went on.

Melcher's statement came out after Depp and Heard's marriage counselor Dr. Laurel Anderson said that the former couple was engaged in mutual abuse.
Dr. Anderson explained that the "Pirates of the Caribbean" star was well-controlled for years and that Depp and Heard were victims of abuse in their homes. However, the "Aquaman" actress reportedly triggered Depp. She added that Depp was violent toward Heard despite the actor's former partners that he was never abusive to them.
