Jeff Bezos left his now-fiancée Lauren Sánchez speechless and impressed with his huge diamond engagement ring when he popped the question earlier this year.

Recalling the special moment in Vogue's December issue, the 53-year-old former TV anchor said she was shocked when Bezos, 59, opened the box containing a spectacular cushion-cut diamond ring aboard his $500 million yacht during a trip to the Cannes Film Festival in May.

"When he opened the box, I think I blacked out a bit," Sánchez said.

The surprise didn't end there. The billionaire placed the ring under Sánchez's pillow, adding an extra touch of romance to the proposal.

Page Six Style reported that the ring was estimated by experts to be worth a staggering $2.5 million, while jeweler Briony Raymond told People that the diamond appeared to be around 25 to 30 carats, and the sparkler might have a price tag of "upwards of $5 million."

As for wedding plans, Sánchez, who, like Bezos, was navigating a divorce from her now ex-husband Patrick Whitesell when they began dating in January 2019, shared that they are taking things slow.

She told Vogue, "We're still thinking about the wedding, what it's going to be. Is it going to be big? Is it going to be overseas? We don't know yet. We've only been engaged five months."

Discussing the wedding dress, Sánchez said she hasn't decided yet but expressed her admiration for designers like Christian Dior, Dolce & Gabbana and Valentino.

"There's so many incredible designers," she said. "Once I get a minute, I'll slow down."

The couple recently hosted a star-studded engagement party in Beverly Hills, California, attended by Oprah Winfrey, Barbra Streisand, Kim Kardashian and more.

Bezos delivered a heartfelt speech, and singer Jewel performed an original song she wrote for the couple called "Legendary," an unnamed insider told Page Six.

Bezos and Sánchez's relationship gained public attention in 2019 after his divorce from his now ex-wife, MacKenzie Scott, was finalized after 25 years of marriage.

The couple sparked engagement rumors in December 2019 after Sánchez was spotted flaunting a diamond engagement ring.

At the time, an unnamed source told People that the couple was "on cloud nine - so happy and madly in love."

Sánchez, a mother of three, recently announced plans to relocate with Bezos from Seattle to Miami to be closer to loved ones.
