An exclusive featurette for the upcoming film Vampire Academy is available, and includes a sneak peak of the film's action.

Richelle Mead, the author who wrote the book the film is based on, also says a few words in the clip.

"Seeing the book come to life in a movie, it's like taking what I visualized in my head and making it even bigger and better," Mead, the writer of the book Vampire Academy, said. "Book writing and film making are two different mediums. To put something on a big screen, that's a whole different art form. It just blows me away to see what (director) Mark Waters and the rest of the team working on a movie can do."

As Mead says her words, the clip shows different scenes from the film, including vampires baring fangs, girls walking into a school dance and a shot of what Vampire Academy looks like.

There is also more detail on the main character, Rose Hathaway, when someone says "Rose Hathaway is wild...dangerous." The character is seen pulling out a dagger, doing karate moves and scandalously dancing.

"(Screenplay writer) Daniel Waters just really got what I was trying to do, and he put it into the script," Mead continued. "And when I read it, I just felt that everything that I had done was in there."

Mead also points out that even though the story has witty dialogue, it's not a comedy.

"There's still that deep emotional content in there, and then all the action is just going on non-stop," Mead said.

Vampire Academy will be in theaters on February 7.
