At a recent PaleyFest event the cast of Masters of Sex spoke about working on the show, and went into much detail about their period undergarments.

American Horror Story's Axeman to Join Cast for Season 2?

The women members of the cast joked about going back in time and donning girdles and whatnot.

"I insist on wearing the period appropriate undergarments, as a way to get into character," Lizzy Caplan said.

Michael Sheen, who was in a rather humurous mood throught the event, chimed in at this point: "So do I. I actually insist on wearing Lizzy's."

The wisecracks didn't quite end there as Annaleigh Ashford, who plays Betty, a prostitute, on the show, went on about the importance of sticking to the right kind of underwear.

 "Undergarments can change everything about how you walk, how you talk, how you move," Ashford said. "So thank God we wear full-out undergarments from the era. But also it was very hard to pee back then. You have to ask somebody to help you when it's time to go pee. I mean - I haven't done that since I was like 4."

Caplan also went onto cite an instance when Betsy Brandt (Breaking Bad) who has joined the cast for season 2 asked her about overcoming the obstructive nature of the garment when one needed to pee. What followed was a hilarious exchange between the ladies on the panel about how Caplan had it all figured out and them asking her what her trick was.

Season 2 of Masters of Sex returns to Showtime on July 13.
