The stills for the finale, titled Streets of Fire, for season 2 of Arrow featuring Oliver (Stephen Amell), Laurel, Thea (Willa Holland) and Slade (Manu Bennett), was revealed on May 4.

Sara's Ex-Lover and League of Assassins Leader Nyssa al Ghul To Return in Finale?

Enstars had previously reported that the romance would be rekindled between Oliver and Laurel towards the end of this season and the new pictures seem to suggest that the sparks will start to fly under high-pressure situations. In the stills fans see the duo fighting Slade's menacing influence in Starling City, but at one point they seem to share an intense moment as Oliver holds on to Laurel.

Andrew Kreisberg recently stroked the hope of fans when it came to the former lovers Oliver and Laurel:

Malcolm Merlyn to Return & Thea to Confront Her Father in Upcoming Episode?

"It's Oliver and Laurel! It's Lois and Clark!" Kreisberg said to the question about their romantic future," he said. "They can break up, get together, sleep together, break up, get married, get divorced, she forgets him...the one thing success has enabled us to do is to slow play some things and I think that we've really adopted this mantra of we give people what they need even if that's not what they want."

The producer went back to the time when the duo were together in season one and suggested that later fans could use a break from that, which is why Sara was thrown into the mix.

"Having Oliver and Laurel get together in Season 1 was, I think, that's what people needed then and then they needed to go on a break so Oliver could have his storyline with Sara for this season, which is what felt right to us."

Isobel Rochev's 'Backstory and Her Motivations' Set to Be Explored?

Speaking of the fate of their relationship he suggested that Laurel would always be Oliver's prime confidant and closest friend.

"Laurel is always going to be one of the closest people to him whether that's romantic or not," he said.

Here's the official synopsis for the episode:

"Oliver (Stephen Amell) rallies his team as Slade's (Manu Bennett) soldiers attack the city. Felicity (Emily Bett Rickards) gets a call from S.T.A.R. Labs with game-changing news and Thea (Willa Holland) comes face-to-face with her father -- Malcolm Merlyn (guest star John Barrowman)."
