Joey Kovar from 'Real World' Found Dead at 29; Family Say Drug Overdose
"Real World" star Joey Kovar was found dead at a friend's home in Chicago on Aug. 17. He was 29 years old.
Family members of the former reality star of MTV's "Real World: Hollywood" and "Celebrity Rehab 3" believe Kovak suffered a drug overdose which ultimately caused his death, according to The Huffington Post.
A representative for the star exclusively told TMZ that Kovar was found by a female friend early Friday morning, who noticed that blood was coming out of his ears and nose. By the time police rushed to the scene, Kovar was already dead.
Kovar had a long time history of drug abuse, which he tried to overcome while on "Celebrity Rehab."
The gossip site noted that Kovar specifically struggled against cocaine and ecstasy abuse and that he entered rehab for alcohol and drugs halfway through the season of "Real World." On camera, he admitted to his then roommates that he been struggling with drug abuse for years. He ended up leaving the show early to focus on his recovery and avoid a relapse that might have occurred from the cast members and their partying ways.
On his Twitter page, Kovar was described as an "EX Reality Star, Musician, Song writer, Model, Actor professional Wrestler, Nutrition and Supplement Enthusiast, Personal Trainer, Security Guard."
The star would constantly post words of inspiration for his followers on Twitter. Among his last tweets, all posted on Aug. 16, stated "Do not let what you cannot do interfere with what you can do. Life is not about how fast you run or how high you climb but how well you bounce."
As of Friday, @RealJoeyKovar had 1,650 Twitter followers.
