Prague High School valedictorian, Kaitlin Nootbaar, has her diploma retained by the school because of cursing during her graduation speech. The central Oklahoma student was inspired by "Twilight" the movie when she wrote her speech.

The Prague High School superintendent, Rick Martin, released a statement explaining that Nootbaar, "used language that was inappropriate for a graduation exercise." In her speech, Nootbaar said that she wanted to be a nurse, and then a veterinarian, and now, when people ask what she wants to be, she said: "How the hell should I know? I've changed my mind so many times."

The superintendent explained that a similar phrase was used in "Breaking Dawn, Part 1," the third installment the "Twilight" series. However, Martin, who called Nootbaar "an outstanding student" when her written speech was approved, said the original speech used the word "heck," not "hell."

"Unfortunately, she did not present the speech as written and used language that was inappropriate for a graduation exercise," Martin said.

As a result, Nootbaar was not given her diploma when she went to pick it up with her father, David, on Friday. Prague High School Principal, David Smith refused to hand it over.

"He said 'Shut the door.' I shut the door and he pointed at her and said, 'You and me have a problem,' " David Nootbaar said, adding that his daughter's diploma was on the Principal's desk.

"He said right here's your diploma and you're not going to get it," David said. Principal Smith said that Nootbaar would have to write a letter of apology for her foul language usage in her speech. Martin agreed that a letter of apology would be "reasonable."

However, Nootbaar has no intention of giving an apology.

"She said 'Dad, if I write them a letter it's not going to be a nice letter. It's not going to be an apology,' David said regarding his daughter, Kaitlin.

Nootbaar will be attending Southwestern Oklahoma State University in Weatherford on a full scholarship. She graduated Prague High School with a 4.0 GPA and will be majoring in biology. She hopes to become a marine biologist.

"She didn't cuss anybody," David said, "and the funny thing is, the school she graduated from, its mascot is a devil."
