Two of the best performers of this season's "Dancing with the Stars: All Stars," were eliminated on the semifinals' results show tonight.

Olympic medalist Shawn Johnson and her dancing partner Derek Hough who were leading the scoreboard with 59 points after performing nearly two perfect choreographies on Monday, were the first couple to be saved and go to the final.

Host Tom Bergeron announced early on the show that Johnson was heading to the finals to cheers and applause from the audience.

Skater Apolo Ohno and his professional dancing partner Karina Smirnoff then stood on stage with Melissa Rycroft and her pro partner Tony Dovolani as the hosts revealed which of the two couples was making it to the finals and which was going home. Ohno and Smirnoff were the first to be eliminated having the lowest votes from viewers combined with the scores from judges. Earlier on today's show they hit the stage to perform Michael Jackson's "Man in the Mirror" one more time.

"This competition was hard from the beginning and being a champion, I learned so much about her [Smirnoff] and so much about myself, this show is amazing...it forces you to become a champion, more confident, stronger, it's been a blessing, every single week the fans have been amazing," Ohno said following his elimination.

Emmit Smith and his pro dancing partner Cheryl Burke; and Kelly Monaco and her dancing partner Valentin Chmerkovsky were the next two couples to stand on the stage and face the results. Smith and Burke were eliminated and Monaco made it to the finals for the opportunity to win the Mirror Ball Trophy.

"It's a tremendous experience, she [Cheryl] has pushed me to another level, season three was something else but this one right here was over the top," Smith said after his elimination.

"After tonight this show has lost a big chunk of charisma," host Bergeron said referring to Smith.

The Wanted and Paula Abdul performed tonight.

The finals will air next Monday at 8 pm. EST.
