The CBS drama won't return to screens until September, but the cast and crew will be back in action at the end of July. A new schedule from the series' production manager has revealed both the filming dates and director for episode 701.

The image indicated that executive producer John Peter Kousakis will helm the first episode, which will begin shooting on July 24.

Although the upcoming installment is labeled 701, that does not necessarily mean that it will be the premiere. In keeping with NCIS: LA tradition, the series closed out season 6 production by filming two episode for the fall run. One of these, which was directed by Dennis Smith, featured a guest appearance from NCIS' Tony DiNozzo (Michael Weatherly) while the other was directed by LA's own Chris O'Donnell (Callen).

There has been no announcement regarding airing order, meaning anyone of these episodes could function as the season 7 premiere.
