Despite earlier hints that a major villain from the comic books would make his big TV debut on the upcoming season of The Walking Dead, it appears that he won't be hitting the small screen just yet.

Will There Finally Be A Richonne Romance?

Reports had been flying that the show was going to cast someone for the role of Negan, the villain who used his trusty bat Lucille in the books to beat Glenn (portrayed by Steven Yuen) to death. However, in a new report, it appears that the early rumors were all wrong, and Negan isn't quite ready to make an appearance.

The casting call which caused the speculation was for a character named "Rich", who is described as a "fifty-something narcissist who has an angry streak, a Senator-like charm and the charisma of a car salesman." The characteristics-save for the age-are all very similar to how Negan was described upon his initial introduction in the comics.

Will Carl Suffer A Major Injury When Alexandria Falls?

However, before Negan would arrive on the show, there would need to be another villainous threat that hasn't yet been contended with-The Wolves, who may not appear until the midseason finale according to earlier spoilers. If the storyline involving them isn't wrapped up in the first half of the season, that they would still be around for the season's second half-and it wouldn't be likely that show has Rick (Andrew Lincoln) and his group deal with two major villains at once.

However, since the casting call could be for Gregory, the leader of the Hilltop Community 20 miles away from Alexandria, Negan may not be too far behind, as he was introduced eight issues after the new community was.

If that's the case, if the show follows the comic books when it comes to Glenn's fate, fans may need to start preparing themselves for what could be his final season on the show.

The Walking Dead season 6 premieres Oct. 11 at 9 p.m. on AMC.
