Ariana Madix was shocked to hear details of her co-star Mike Shay's addiction struggles on last night's Vanderpump Rules.

After learning the issues Shay had taken on, Madix took to her blog, where she expressed her sadness in what her friend was enduring as he and wife Scheana Marie filmed the fourth season of the show.

"Scheana and Shay are like family to me, so to hear about the struggles they were going through as a couple and what Shay was going through individually made me feel helpless," Madix revealed in her Bravo blog on Monday. "I know from personal experience that it can be hard to open up to those you're close to about serious struggles because you always want to be positive and you don't want anyone to worry. However, it felt horrible to know that they were taking on such huge issues on their own."

During last night's episode, Shay spoke to Madix, as well as their other co-stars and friends, including Tom Sandoval, Tom Schwartz and Katie Maloney, about his ongoing struggles with an addiction to prescription pills.

Also in her blog, Madix addressed her thoughts on marriage, which are much different than the thoughts of her boyfriend.

"Tom and I poke fun at all of it," she explained. "It's not a big deal. We are more likely to argue about what movie to watch than the idea of marriage. We have our sights set on so many future adventures that I can't really see us having the time for wedding planning."

Vanderpump Rules season four airs on Monday nights at 9 p.m. on Bravo.
