Degrassi fans can rejoice- there will be a new season of Next Class!

On Monday, the series' Twitter page announced that the Netflix version of the heavy high school drama has indeed been renewed for new episodes beginning this summer.

The premiere date will be on Friday, July 22.

Of course, not too much was released on what kinds of storylines that fans will expect. But odds are likely something crazy might happen with Miles and that incident with the gun.

Eric Osborne, who plays the character, previously opened up with Durham Region on his character and the difficulties he's had to face.

"That gets him on a pretty dark path and, as you can imagine, it spirals and he loses his way," Osborne said. "He hits sort of rock bottom."

Some issues that Miles dealt with included his complicated identity, his scary romance with Tristan, a controlling father and taking pills.

"He's definitely a very interesting dynamic character," the actor said about Miles. "There's not just one answer to any question you can ask about him. He's changing all the time."

The series has always tackled controversial issues whether it's racism, suicide, teen pregnancy, school shootings and abortions. In a report from Deadline, executive producer Stephen Stohn mentioned that whatever happens in future episodes, it's important to stay authentic.

"Our motto really is, 'If they are talking about it in the hallways of the schools around the nation, we have to be talking about it,'" Stohn said.

The first season of Next Class had its own share of enticing scenes with moments that were a little different from before.

"Over the past few years in particular, on the air we were getting pressure from executives to play it a little bit safer," Stohn said. "Now this year we can tell stories of female masturbation. We can just go where the stories are."
