Cynthia Bailey of Bravo’s The Real Housewives of Atlanta has spoken out for the first time in weeks and updated fans on her status with her now estranged husband Peter Thomas.

“I am definitely taking some time to myself to figure out how I want to move forward,” she told The Daily Dish Monday. “I don’t want to rush into anything, so I think time apart for is good for us.”

Fans saw Bailey and Thomas’ marriage hit a huge rough patch on the eighth season of the popular show. While they were faced with rumors that Thomas was cheating on Bailey, she has said in the past that she doesn’t believe the infidelity rumors and that they are not what caused the split. Instead, it was the distance they already had as Thomas has been running his sports bar in Charlotte, N.C. while Bailey has been staying in Atlanta and traveling.

“I think the space apart; I think he can appreciate it as well. I think it gives people time to think and process and just move forward in a way that really is healthy for everyone involved.”

While the two seemed to be ready to head to divorce court on the show, it looked like everything turned around for them when they went on a couples’ trip to Jamaica with their co-stars. But Bailey said that was nothing more than putting a band-aid on their issues.

“Jamaica was fun. We had a good time together. Just because we are having issues don’t mean we can’t have a good time together. So Jamaica was good, but it didn’t change issues that we were still dealing with.”
